Gracia Festival In Barcelona,
So in August, in between my time spent working in the South of France, and driving round Northern Italy with my parents, I had about a week to do something and go somewhere. Wanting to stay near to that area of Europe, I looked around on the web for somewhere to go. Now I'm someone that loves going to new places, and there were plenty of new destinations on my list that would have been possible for me to spend a week in exploring, but surprisingly instead I chose to re-visit somewhere I've been a couple of times before; Barcelona.
I first went to Barcelona a few years ago with my parents in Easter break and within days I fell in love with the city. It was probably the first place that I visited back before I did a lot of travelling which I remember thinking how much I wanted to stay and see more. The following year, in my gap year, I returned to the city for three weeks in order to see as much as I could while also attempting to learn Spanish. As you can probably tell, I love Barcelona. From the first time I visited, I was hooked, and every time I get the chance to come back to this incredible city I jump at it. It's for sure somewhere I want to spend a prolonged period of time in when I'm older.
Anyway, back to the present day. After spending a couple of days up the Catalan coast in Aguia Blava with a university friend, I found my way heading back to my favourite European city, with butterflies in my stomach from excitement. I had booked 5 nights at Casa Gracia Hostel, a high-range hostel, that felt almost more like a hotel than a typical hostel, located in the party district of Gracia, and most importantly, right next to Passeig de Gracia and the underground.
I had a couple of things planned that I'd already done before such as visiting La Sagrada Familia, walking down Las Ramblas and taking the gondola across from Montjuic to Barceloneta beach. I also wanted to add a couple of new things to my list such as going to a Barcelona football game, cycling along the seafront, and spending my evenings at the Gracia street party, which coincidentally, was happening while I visiting.
