One annual event that is always on my family's calendar is Cowes Week, a large sailing regatta based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. When I was younger we would go every year without fail, but for the past 3 years other plans had meant that I haven't been in the country. This year I was excited to see that I was free for the first week of August and therefore I could join my parents over on my home away from home.
Neither my parents nor I were sailing this year, but we had plenty of friends and family that were. My grandma owns a house just behind the Royal Yacht Squadron, so we had a brillant view for both the racing and the fireworks. It was great base for the week as we split our time between being out on the water, drinking down in the town or at various parties in a number of yacht clubs.
