Once I was back in Sydney with only a few days left in Australia, I received a message out of the blue from a close family friend Harold Cudmore inviting me out to join him and a group of friends racing. I met up with him and the crew at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia just east of the city centre and we hopped onto the boat for an hour or two of sunset racing. After racing, we cruised back to the yacht club where I was treated to dinner and drinks - a wonderful local end to my time in Sydney!
What an incredible week to end my journey up the east coast! After 7 weeks in Australia, I finally made it to Cairns where I managed to both sky-dive and scuba-dive alongside many other wonderful day trips.
After 3 or 4 cancellations in both New Zealand and Australia, I was beginning to think that maybe this was the universe's way of telling me not to go skydiving. Never have I been so scared or excited at the same time; and when that plane door opens there really is no going back. I have no words to describe how incredible it was to free-fall and then parachute above Mission Beach.
Never have I been on such an incredible island like this. I had no idea what to expect when I booked three days on Magnetic Island and I certainly was not dissapointed. Ellie and I rented a car which we drove round the tiny island exploring as much as we possibly could.
Just like Fraser Island, visiting the Whitsundays was one of Australia's highlights. Never have I seen anything like Whitehaven beach. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side but nevertheless I had an amazing three days sailing with a great bunch of people.
I'm going to make a big statement and say that I don't think it can get any better than this in Australia. Fraser Island has completely blown my mind, and I can't believe that places like this actually exist in the world and are so accessible to people like me.
Hello 19! I've been in Noosa for the past week now and I absolutely love it here, I couldn't think of a nicer place to spend my birthday. I'm really pleased that I chose to stay here a little longer than I had originally planned. I've been taking surfing and paddle-board lessons while I also found time to explore the Everglades and Australia Zoo.
Having had the most wonderful couple of weeks in Sydney, it was finally time for me to start moving up the east coast towards Brisbane! I had three stops on my list before then; Newcastle followed by Byron Bay, before a week in Surfer's Paradise, a.k.a the Gold Coast!
After nearly two weeks in Sydney, and with the Kiwi crew having finally all arrived, we thought it was about time that all of us got out of the city and visited the Blue Mountains!
I am so happy to finally be in Australia! Yes it's my first time here and I couldn't be more excited to be starting off the next chapter of my adventure in Sydney! I started out here by myself before friends eventually starting arriving over from New Zealand, however that gave me about a week to get lots of exploring in!
